Book Accommodation
Booking.com We have relied on this for 10 years and have never had a bad experience. They also have great customer service (once I booked a hotel in France for the wrong dates, they got on the phone and talked to the hotel and were able to get me a refund.) We love the diversity of accommodation styles, the ability to filter by free cancellation, and the genius discount that we receive after having booked so many times. We’ve used Booking.com to book
Hotels.com has a variety of accommodation types. If a hotel is sold out on Booking.com, we head here.
VRBO: Use VRBO for vacation rentals.
You can find a list of EVERY hotel and apartment we have ever stay at here. They range from $100/ night to $800/ night.
Book Campsites and Cabins
Recreation.gov: Since we live in the US and visit national parks, we use this website to book campsites throughout the country. This also works for entry tickets for places like Cadillac Mountain in Acadia and the Going to the Sun road in Glacier National Park.
Reserve America: To book state parks, use this website. We have booked some great, modern cabins with Reserve America (with electricity and heat and running water!)
Parks Canada: The national website for campgrounds in Canada; make sure you check the date that your park releases reservations. They are all different. (I waited online for 4 hours to get our campsite in Banff.)
Wigwam Holidays: Perfect for glamping in the UK. We stayed in one on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, and it’s still one of our favorite places.
Tours & Attractions
Get Your Guide: A great website for booking tours all over. Equal to Viator in its usefulness and pricing.
Viator We’ve book Viator tours in France, Italy, and beyond. It’s a great resource to help you complete your travel bucket list and find family-friendly activities in the US, UK, and Europe. We love the rewards program, which gives you cash back on your bookings. You can use these discounts later on.
Book Flights
We usually book flights using points and miles, so we plan our trips according to the points gods and goddesses.
However, if you are paying cash, we generally start with Google Flights to check prices, and go from there.
We look for points deals on PointsYeah and DailyDropPro (we pay for a subscription).
We use points to get from the East Coast of the US to Europe and the UK, for this, our favorite airlines are:
American Airlines: Our home airport is Philadelphia, so this is great for direct flights.
Flying Blue: Air France & KLM’s award program
Great deals out of JFK airport.
Atmos: Alaska Air’s rewards program- great for booking American Airlines flights
British Airways + Aer Lingus: Perfect for getting to London and Dublin
