Grand Hyatt Scottsdale-Hotel Review
We have been working our way through many popular Hyatt hotels for spring break over the past few years. In 2024, we stayed at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in the Bahamas, and last year we tried the Hyatt Regency at Coconut Point in Florida.
This year, we decided to try the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale because we found affordable flights to Phoenix, and we wanted to visit the Grand Canyon for the first time as a family.
Grand Hyatts are known for having great pools that are suitable for both children and adults, and having great restaurants on site, and this hotel was no exception.

Where exactly is the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale?
This hotel is less than 20 miles from Phoenix International Airport. Scottsdale is a suburban town full of shopping, restaurants, and golf courses.
Near Scottsdale you can find a variety of hiking, like Sonoran Preserve, Camelback Mountain,
We chose Scottsdale as the first destination for our spring break road trip because it’s one of the closest major airports to the Grand Canyon.
Top family-friendly activities in Phoenix-Scottsdale area:
Desert outdoor activities: Easy, family-accessible hikes at Camelback Mountain (for older kids) and Pinnacle Peak or Tom’s Thumb for gentler options; stroller-friendly walks and picnic spots in McDowell Sonoran Preserve; guided family nature walks and junior ranger–style programs.
Parks and playgrounds: Chaparral Park and Scottsdale Civic Center Park have playgrounds, splash pads (seasonal), open lawns, and shaded areas for young children.
Kid-oriented attractions: OdySea Aquarium offers touch pools and interactive exhibits; Butterfly Wonderland provides immersive butterfly habitats and educational shows; McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park delights train-loving kids with rides, a carousel, and a small museum.
Museums and cultural sites: Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West offer family programs and kid-friendly exhibits. Many venues provide hands-on activities or family days.
Family-friendly features of the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale
Beach area- complete with sand with toddlers and young children to play at the edge of the zero entry pool.
A water slide for kids 42 inches and taller.
A separate family pool area from the adult pool- no need to worry about annoying the grown-ups. Everyone in this area had kids!
A pool set-up with volleyball nets (great for older kids to pass the time- our 6 year old could not reach.)
Pool-side activities- rock-climbing wall, Mermaid interactions, arts and crafts. There’s lots to keep your keeps entertained.
Stuffed animal upon arrival: All children are given a stuffed cactus upon check-in.
Rooms with balconies or small decks. We were on the ground level, which worked out great for us.
Easy access to groceries stores and off-site restaurants.
Adult-friendly features of the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale
Restaurants: There are multiple on-site restaurants. We ate at La Zozzona by Richard Blais, which was delicious. You can also order lunch and drinks by the pool.
Gym and sports: The Grand Hyatt is set next to a golf course, includes a small gym, and extensive tennis and pickleball courts.

How much does the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale cost?
If you are staying at a Grand Hyatt during peak travel season, you should know that you will be paying a lot. Prices at $700 per night are normal, and you will need to pay for parking and breakfast on top of that. (Nothing else is included in your stay.) We would NOT pay cash for this stay.
How to book the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale with points
All of the links below include referrals to credit cards that we use when we travel with points and miles.
We booked our spring break stay in Scottsdale using points. We transferred points from our Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase business cards to our Hyatt account. If you are looking at the same stay with points for 2027, you can expect to pay 30,000 Hyatt points per night. (Which is not bad given the recent changes in the World of Hyatt award charts.)
If you have any Chase cards or any World of Hyatt cards then you could use your points to book this room.
Room review
The rooms were clean and comfortable. They did not feel as fancy as other hotels we have stayed in, but they were sufficient. We had a ground level room, which included a sliding door and a small patio area. From our room, we could walk to paved sidewalk to the restaurants and pools, and we could see fireworks one night.
I will say that people who had rooms on higher floors had balconies that overlooked the pool and restaurants; to be honest, I would not want a room here. There did not seem to be any privacy for these rooms. Meanwhile, we loved our little corner of the hotel.
We visited this hotel in the spring of 2026; to read about our previous adventures, choose another location.
