Palm Suite Rome: Hotel Review

In December of 2025, we returned to Rome for the first time in a decade. During our first stay, as a couple, we spent a few days in a tiny B&B in Trastevere. It was perfect. However, for our return as a family of 3, we knew that we wanted to be closer to the main sites in Rome so that we could spend less time walking and more time exploring.

Enter, the Palm Suite, a part of the small luxury hotel (SLH) chain. This boutique hotel has 12 rooms, all of which are suites. We have never been taken care of better than we were here. If it’s your first time visiting Rome, this is a great hotel to try. We stayed for 3 nights, and after we left, we missed it. We wish we had stayed for 5 nights.

We used Hilton points to stay here, courtesy of our American Express cards, and you can read more about how we used mile and points in order to subsidize our trip to Italy.

Why We Chose This Hotel: Location, Location, Location

  • We chose Palm Suite, Rome (part of SLH) because we wanted to be near the Colosseum and in the center of the action for our winter trip to Rome. The location cannot be better than this. You can see the Colosseum from the front door and the hotel is not far from the Monti neighborhood for dinner and gelato.

    • Attractions: Colosseum, Roman Forum, Domus Aurea

    • Public transportation: Colosseo Metro Stop

If you want to visit Trastevere, Castel Sant’Angelo or the Vatican, you could take public transportation or a taxi.

Family-Friendly Amenities

  • Complimentary breakfast was delivered to our room every day, which meant that we could have breakfast in our jammies and take our time. We requested fruit, cornetti, hot cocoa, and yogurt for our daughter. It was a great balance of carbs and healthy food!

  • The mini-fridge included free non-alcoholic beverages which were restocked each day when we were out.

  • A small kitchen area includes a table, counter, microwave, dishes, silverware, and a sink. While you cannot cook, you could bring some leftovers home or reheat food if needed.

  • Courtyard: The entrance to the hotel is a gated area that leads into a courtyard (so very Roman). If the weather is nice, you could also have a little meal or snack outside.

  • Laundry facilities: You can pay for laundry or you can do laundry on site.

Service & Overall Experience

  • This hotel is very small. If you want to visit somewhere where everyone knows who you are, and you are waved at when you walk in the door, then this is the place.

  • Our room was perfectly cleaned each day. Considering that we ate in the room each morning, it was really lovely to come back in the afternoon to a clean room. They were very quick and efficient.

  • This hotel was great with extra touches. The staff sent a welcome champagne upon arrival, and we received chocolates every night during turn down service.

  • The staff was amazing with our daughter and called her a little princess. Her bed was made before we checked in and everyone was kind to her.

  • The hallways offered bowls of little fruit candies that were restocked daily. These little candies saved us more than once when we were starving and waiting to get through a museum so we could get lunch.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Palm Suite is in a very walkable area.

  • The rooms are spacious for Rome standards.

  • The kitchenette can help you save a little food and a little for your budget. Having a couple yogurts saved from breakfast and cold sodas was a great treat for the afternoons when we were just a little hungry.

  • Free breakfast if you have Hilton status.

Cons

  • Rooms are now 100,000 per night

  • Large families may not fit without upgrading to a more expensive suite.

  • Room decor is a bit fancy! While it’s beautiful, if you have children who are rambunctious or like to play, then this might not be for you!
